OT, Lee. Thanks for a much more eloquent response to his anti-Greenspan diatribe than I would be capable of.

Thanks Lee. I find those blaming Greenspan on their troubles usually sing the song of victims of conspiring overlords. What a laugh.

The real victims are small business people suffering from local power hungry bureaucrats and "sensitive" meddling, well meaning liberals who think that if there is a problem, government is the solution.
Cheers
Mike

Re: " You should read the info at the site below and remember that the Fed is executing policy as set forth by the legislative branch of our government." ny.frb.org;

Thanks Lee I just did and no where did it say anything about a rising exuberant stock market. Greenspan has taken it upon himself to extent his duties outside those mentioned in the site you so kindly provided above.

Re: "How would you live if you didn't support yourself? Are you talking about government entitlements here?"

Absolutely not! I'm talking about hands off government. If Mr Greenspan would stick to the FED charter he would not worry so much about the stock market and let it remain a free enterprise.

Re: "This statement is nonsense. Greenspan has never taken credit for the productivity improvements and, etc"

Lee with all due respect I think you have put my statement out of context i.e. "This is bigger and more important than mere price increases -which incidentally productivity and world competition has keep in check while Mr. Greenspan gets the credit." It said he gets credit not "taken" credit. Also I was referring to him getting credit for keeping prices down, not for productivity gains. I'm sorry if it wasn't stated crystal clear for you?

Re: "You are the only one that controls your gains and standard of living."

Yes I agree, and not anyone else not even Mr. Greenspan so I wish he would stop interfering with the free markets! We pay commissions, we take the risk with our taxed monies, and we should have the opportunity to overpay or underpay for our investments including Dell!

ps. Mr. Greenspan is a very effective controller because he does a lot of good along the way but he does overextend his duties as of late. I may not be able to stop him but I sure don't think it should go without notice.
