New Online Systems Enhance Personalized Banking Experience and Meet High
Demand for Free, High-Interest Checking

ATLANTA, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Now with over 40,000 accounts, and adding
thousands of new accounts every month, Net.B@nk(TM), Member FDIC
(NASDAQ:NTBK) (http://www.netbank.com), is adding innovative online tools and
systems to better serve customers at the nation's leading pure Internet bank,
CEO D.R. Grimes announced today. The bank recently introduced a
"self-service" tool that enables new applicants to track the status of their
account application every day directly through the bank's web site,
eliminating the need for these types of calls to the bank's Customer Care
Center.
"Net.B@nk has been a trailblazer in Internet banking automation and this
enhancement will better serve our customers and prospective customers as we
continue to grow at unprecedented rates," said Grimes. "Our Internet-savvy
customer base expects the most state-of-the-art technologies and appreciates
the increased convenience of being able to self-service many aspects of their
accounts. We know our customers have chosen Net.B@nk for our terrific rates,
low costs and the conveniences of banking on the Internet, and this should
further increase the convenience factor."
Net.B@nk is currently implementing several other customer care
enhancements designed to increase the speed and automation of many of its
financial services. Future systems and tools include check and document
imaging for online viewing of all account documents; an instant messenger
system in which customers, while online, will be able to immediately send and
receive e-mails with a customer service representative; online check
reordering, and new systems that allow for faster credit approvals.
The bank has already placed the implementation of its online bill payment
services into the customer's hands, allowing quicker initiation for Net.B@nk
customers. Another customer service initiative proving quite popular with
customers and site visitors is "Ask the CEO," a page on the bank's site where
Net.B@nk regularly publishes questions for Grimes, along with his own unique
and detailed answers.
Net.B@nk, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTBK), is a financial services company whose sole
subsidiary, Net.B@nk, Member FDIC, is the largest federally insured, and first
profitable, pure Internet bank in the country, having achieved profitability
in the past five successive quarters. The Company's stock was the
top-performing thrift stock in 1998. With more than 40,000 accounts and
customers in all 50 United States and 20 foreign countries, Net.B@nk is the
