Decisive Technology Sponsors Prestigious 'The Next 20 Years' Series of Industry Insider Gatherings

Leading Online Provider of Customer Intelligence Solutions Announces Sponsorship of Ziff-Davis Gatherings for Industry Visionaries

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 1999-- Decisive® Technology, the leading online provider of customer intelligence solutions for Internet and e-commerce businesses, today announced its sponsorship of the ongoing series of prestigious Ziff-Davis-backed events known as TNTY, or The Next 20 Years.

In the tradition of the 19th century French ''salon,'' the invitation-only TNTY series hand-picks noted futurists, scientists, and technology visionaries to join with key new media executives to debate and imagine the look of technology in the next 20 years, and its positive and negative societal impacts. Event locales in 1999 include Los Angeles (recently finished), New York City (July 29), San Francisco (September 1), and London (September 29). In each of the four locations, a reception and technology showcase bookends a panel discussion focusing on the future of business, technology, electronic commerce, society and lifestyle.

''The goal of The Next 20 Years series closely intertwines with Decisive's corporate vision,'' said Mark Bonham, Decisive Technology's vice president of Marketing. ''The ideas germinating from these informal gatherings will have significant consequences for the development and conduct of e-commerce. For a company to survive in the 21st century, it is vital that it take advantage of the Internet to look beyond the here and now to identify, and anticipate, its customers' needs and wants. The next 20 years will be 'make or break' for e-commerce, so for that reason, we wanted to be involved in this series.''

Imagining the future of e-commerce, and realizing that future through new technologies, is what Decisive Technology does best. Recognizing that businesses will continue to migrate to the Internet as a primary means of communication with their customers, Decisive combines Internet technology with professional research services in its online customer intelligence solutions. By enjoying ''real-time'' Internet access to attitudes that influence the decisions of their key constituents, including customers, prospects and employees, companies are better able to stimulate additional business and improve customer retention.

Said Bob Ayres, executive producer and founder of The Next 20 Years, ''Decisive represents exactly the type of forward-looking company we strive to involve in the series. They envision the challenges faced by the e-commerce company of tomorrow, and work with its customers to implement the best technology solution to meet those challenges. We are delighted to have their support.''

More about The Next 20 Years Series

The '99 series of The Next 20 Years events is expected to attract as many as 1,500 industry executives in each host city, with audiences comprised of owners, partners, presidents, directors, managers, innovative thinkers, early adopters, and opinion leaders from emerging companies and Fortune 500 corporations -- the individuals who are ultimately responsible for shaping the technology industry.

At each venue, three cutting-edge speakers appear on a panel moderated by Dan Farber, vice president and editor-in-chief at ZDNet. Speakers in the series include: Warner Brothers executive vice president Jim Banister; John Gage, Chief Researcher and Director of the Science Office at Sun Microsystems; Institute for the Future director Paul Saffo; venture capitalist Ann Winblad; CEO of Be Inc. Jean-Louis Gassee; theoretical physicist Dr. Michio Kaku; New York Times writer Denise Caruso; MIT's Michael Dertouzos; science fiction writer Bruce Sterling; economist Hazel Henderson; analyst and venture capitalist Bill Gurley; and Xerox PARC's Dr. Ralph C. Merkle.

Beginning in the Year 2000, TNTY will widen its scope to include annual events in three additional industries -- advertising, entertainment and medicine.
