Nelson - don't get your (?) in a wad (I make no assumptions here) about the company's decision to limit the questions to the analysts.

You have the practical reality that the ocean of the "investment community" owns ebay, not the tiny pond of individuals such as ourselves who manage our own portfolios. Any good executive support team will have predicted the vast majority of questions and formulated answers and coached their CEO or CFO for the "correct" responses to them.

Sad, but if you are a hot public company you can safely predict that the "pond scum" will only waste time in many cases - you'll get fringe-element political-gripe questions on conference calls that only want to get media attention beyond what they spam onto the internet and chat boards.

Individual minority investors are stuck into that "noise floor," and it is doubtful any company would or could adequately handle the number of questions.

What's worse is, many of the analysts don't carry water for the masses of us who don't have a voice, because of their own positions or prior opinions that they don't care to tarnish.

Such is the way of investing today.
