I absolutely agree with that, especially the DEC/Tandem albatross part. When Pfeiffer pulled the trigger on the DEC acquisition, on top of the Tandem one (I think that was the order) I figured he was manic. I also understand that the atmosphere at Tandem was killed by the acquisition and ethnic jokes abounded on the Tandem campus when Pfeiffer was in charge.

I have to say that Sun has been resilient to the max in their, sort of, lone wolf role against the rest of the computing world.
