to Make 17 Million Lines DSL-Capable This Year

PR Newswire - July 28, 1999 10:15

Note the on-the-surface, if not obvious, contradictions to the conclusions reached in the preceding Cook Report abstract (if you went to the site), by the unveiling of thses services by BEL.

What do you think is happening here?

Deployment is being pushed most heavily by national CLECs Northpoint and Covad. ILECs have been dragging their feet on deployments, especially in areas where it could replace T-1 business local loops.

How true is this, still? I know it was the case last year, but. . .

Does anyone have any numbers on the number of DSLAM's being installed, or CO's being equipped, respectively by Covad, Northpoint, Bell Atlantic, etc?
