No not a mutual fund but a VC portfolio, absolutely. I agree there are some frightening implications to that, as well as positive ones. I don't like the lock the "old boys network" has on VC... public VCs like Wit Capital can open that up. But is the public ready to do venture investing? I had a little bit of exposure to this in a past life, and my rule of thumb was that if I could get a one 10-bagger with some seed money or something (not my money I was doing analysis), then that would make up for any number of failures. Thats what we have here in this mkt, we've seen the 10-baggers but not the losses... hope it holds
