Thanks BD! That's the spirit!

>>from bd>>Sorry 'fellow' - you'll have to do that work yourself. Don't have the time to educate you. Its been talked about on the thread many times so perhaps you can review prior posts. If someone else wants to spend the time explaining it, by all means, go ahead.

[OT of PMCS, on topic of BD's reply to my innocent questions]

Dear BD-

Glad you found the time to drop that note, though, about not having time and all. Maybe someone else has the time to 'educate' me (hence the post to the thread, and not an email message to you). Don't you want to clarify your earlier post? Why did you bother posting if you didn't want others to understand?

I've been following the thread for quite some time and I've never seen a definition of ASSPs, so I checked TechWeb's encyclopedia, which does not differentiate between ASSPs and ASICs(as my post indicated). Then I posted the question.

>>Its been talked about on the thread many times so perhaps you can review prior posts.<<

FYI BD, in the last 120 days ASSP has come up in exactly two posts-- yours and mine asking for a definition on July 28th.

Also-- about the move into other functions above phy, there have been eleven posts regarding phy other than your post and mine on the 28th, none with any valuable information about the new board real estate or any PMC trek. Quite a few were from you, though, strangely enough! In one you did tell someone to "find out what they mean and why PMC benefits" on March 8th. While reading some of your posts ("doing that work myself"), I did notice this to taro:
>>
taro - that was probably one of the stupidest posts I have ever read. Congratulations!! There must be some kind of award for it.

I own many comm IC companies - PMC is merely one of them. "Losing my shirt"? what the **&^%$ are you talking about? I have made tons of money and will continue to make tons of money on this company.
<<

Now that was a valuable post. Up there with "Don't have the time to educate you. Its been talked about on the thread many times so perhaps you can review prior posts."

I find it highly ironic that someone 'in the know' about the need for bandwidth would waste it so easily. Maybe you should buy a 300 baud modem.

I still want to know about PMC's 'trek' up board 'real estate'. Can you find the time to illuminate us before you find the time to respond to the rest of my note?

BD- I hope you continue to make 'tons of money'!

For anyone interested, the following is his post from the 28th and my questions, which I know are valid and reasonable. Also notice the words 'please' and 'Cheers', along with the clear questions and concise style.

Cheers all, even BD-

>>from bd>>#1 - as more and more customers opt for ASSPs
vs. ASICs, merchant chip makers like PMC should grow faster than the mkt. #2 - PMC's
trek up the board. As PMC captures more real estate on the boards and moves past the Phy
layer, they should also grow faster than the mkt. <<

On point #1:
Can you please define ASSP. TechWeb's TechEncyclopedia has this:
(Application Specific Standard Part) Another term for an
ASIC chip. See also CSIC.
Why the change?

On Point #2:
What functions are they moving into?

Cheers-
