Micron Technology (MU: news, msgs) spokesman Kipp Bedard said Wednesday at the BancBoston Robertson Stephens semiconductor conference in San Francisco that his company is seeing "earlier-than-normal seasonal upticks in back-to-school demand." Computers selling for $600, once only 32 megabytes, are now twice as fast at 64 megabytes. "Real volume for 128 megabytes will be in Q4,'' said Bedard. The speed increase will come in the next 12 to 18 months in light of the Windows 2000 launch, he said.
