The Red Hat / Linux deal will be a bonus for Hummingbird's connectivity business. The more mixed the environment out there -- PC clients, Unix and NT servers -- the more need for X Windows and NFS software, which is what Hummingbird specializes in. But the real future of Hummingbird is its transition to the knowledge management/BI businesses. The connectivity business is a cash cow but unlikely to grow, unless there's an even bigger shakeup with Linux than people expect.
