On my way home tonight I heard a piece on NPR re: E-Loan, who also had a recent IPO.

The gist of the piece was the activity that took place before the 1st day of public trading. The narrator highlighted the road show that took place weeks before that day; you know, the founders of the company doing dog and pony shows in front of fund managers, analysts, institutional deep pockets, et.al.

Evidently, their stock did very well the first couple of days out ( don't know where it is now or anything else about the company ), and In light of INIT's performance since its debut,I'm just wondering how important a role this is vis a vis fundamentals,i.e. can it really be style triumphing over substance? to this degree? Of course, I have no idea how the INIT guys did if they had a road show. But in light of the report I just heard, it got me to wondering.

Thoughts? Insights, anyone?

Waveseeker,

I hope you are right about ML and INIT. I got some init today at 16 1/2. I am prepared to average down at 15. But no more if it drops below that.

Just one observation to share with you. ML is usually powerful at influencing the stock price of traditional companies. When it comes to internets, ML has a habit of touting losers, such as seek. I guess guys at ML are way too conservative to be in sync with internet world. Now that Blodget has replaced Cohen, I hope ML can get it right this time.

>>Given the rarity of MLCO underwritings, this should be a jewel in their crown given the company's place in the Internet applications hosting area - not to mention great revenue growth. Look at EXDS, VRIO, and the relatively new issue ISLD - why shouldn't INIT be at least near <<

I just emailed INIT ir and asked them if those 4 mil employee stocks options can be used as toilet paper in case they run out.
