It's not like it, but not entirely unlike, either. I mean, one tries to establish premises, to argue logically from them or make clear where and why illogic (or 'alogic,' if there is such word; perhaps 'faith' is the better word) should prevail, or at least be on an equal footing, at some point in the discussion. To discern and make explicit 'realms.'

Although I dare say it is even less possible to change anyone's mind....

I've learned things here in the arguments about religion, and become much more sympathetic to the religious mindset. Sorry for the word 'mindset,' there's a better one that communicates what I've observed, but I can't think of it.
