TO ALL: Psst! Want 100 meg of new hard drive space?

I was doing a tape backup and noticed that over 100 meg was being used for e-mail folders. (I use Netscape by the way)

I subsequently found out that once e-mail messages are allocated to hard drive space that if you subsequently delete, say 500 messages in the Trash directory, that the allocated space remains the same. WHOA!

How does one get this space back??? Funny you should ask...

Go to the e-mail page and click on then file, then compact folders. Voila! It gives the space back.

I gained over 100 meg by those two clicks... I hope this helps some of you!
