Jim, lots of index puts were bought today...while that doesn't guarantee anything, it usually means that the market will not react negatively to the economic data released the following day. however, unfriendly data coupled with a further rise in the yen could upset the market regardless. option traders are not always wrong; an example would be the 1990 correction, which was preceded by a rise in put/call ratios.
