CNBC had a report on the growth of Cell phones. They still havnt figured out that dropped calls and service problems are indicitive to ATT and not others. It really bothers me that they interview one guy(CDMA Q PHONE) who is as happy as crap. He interviews another who says he wants to throw his phone out the window(TDMA NOKIA). Yet they cant see the differing technologies=differing serrvice. If someone in the press would pick up on this(like they have in Japan) ATT could be deaslt a severe blow!

Michael,

--- Killer Apps ---

I see two basic uses for "cell phones" (OK to substitute "game boy" sized devices, PDA's, whatnot)

Condensed here in a nutshell:

1) Request. This basically is a conversation with an automated data source, such as a webserver or vending device. Maps, transportation schedules, where to find a particular item, reservations, ticketing, requests for data, schedules, weather, help, emergencies, scores, quotes, eCommerce.

2) Sharing. This is normal person to person voice communications, along with data sharing, and this is where instant messaging falls under. But, IMO, the real "Killer app" that will fall under this category is video sharing with voice over, showing activity in the field to HQ, showing baby, pets, scenery, possessions, xxx, etc. to friends and relatives. This will be absolutely huge and will gobble up all that wonderful CDMA 1x, 3x, etc. bandwidth. IMHO.
