Susan, you won't believe it.

Last weeks have been completely amazing. After being on SI most of 98 and 99 I finally checked out the Chilean Internet site registration. It turned out that most of the sites where still open. So I took another loan (it is amazing the amount of money you are able to get from different sources, I feel like Donald Trump, with a negative net worth but with a possible paper gain) and registered 500 domain names in Chile. I tell you this is real fun. One weekend I had in front of me an encyclopedia, a dictionary, a telephone book and a yellow pages and was hitting the 'register button' every 2 minutes.

There are about ten companies now complaining against me. But you know lawyers, nothing to worry about. There is a 30 day time window in Chile to oppose to registrations, after this time, it is yours. One of the names I registered was www.mtv.cl so you understand, Viacom is now against me. I just leave them the name. But they complain as well to www.mitv.cl which stand for mytv or a personal homepage where you can choose your favorite channels. I will publish a full story next month. Basicly I have nothing to worry about, I have registered all generic names on the Chilean Internet including (translated) wwww.store.cl www.stockexchange.cl www.whitehouse.cl www.beach.cl and so about 500 more names. I almost had to sell my GNET but hold on to it and took another loan from the bank. Next year I tell you if this is another total failure or big fun (registered as well). Anyhow, in this name-frenzy I registered 30 dotcom names as well, including www.10sites.com which to my amazement was not registered until now. So apart from investing in GNET, next years I will try to build an international web presence as well.

I think it will be possible to elevate the .cl extension to a -club image. So .com stand for commerce and .cl for club. so I will register a number of more names with the club extension. Might be that I register the www.hawaii.cl domain to have a homepage for our next common holiday.

If you have any suggestions for domain names, let me know. Next year I'll have my IPO.

Chao,
