Additional Stocks To Keep An Eye On

a. SSCC- Rayonier (RYN) announced today it has signed a definitive
agreement to purchase approximately 980,000 acres of timberland in
Florida, Georgia and Alabama from Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation for
$725 million. .The Boards of Directors of both companies have approved the
transaction, which is expected to close early in the fourth quarter. We
will continue to keep you updated on this story as additional details
continue to come in

b. FON- Deutsche Telekom AG (DTEG.F) is in talks to acquire France Telecom
10 percent stake in Sprint (FON), the Wall Street Journal Europe reported
today. The Journal's sources say that this step would be the first in
Telekom's bid for a possible outright purchase of Sprint. Officials for
both companies declined comment on the Journal report.

c. CPQ- Compaq, the largest PC maker, announced after the bell yesterday
that it lost $184 million, or 10 cents per share. That was 1 cent narrower
than the loss analysts expected. Additionally, Compaq said it will cut
6,000 to 8,000 jobs and close some facilities. A charge of $700 million to
$900 million for those moves is expected in the third quarter.

d. WMI- Waste Management, the nation's largest garbage hauler, today
lowered its target for second quarter earnings and said its chief
financial officer resigned. The company now expects second quarter
earnings in the range of 58-60 cents a share, down from a prior projection
of 67-70 cents a share.

e. DRGI- Diversified Research group announced yesterday its 1998 audited
financials reflecting a net income of $5,266,956 representing a 17 cent
per share earnings. An important thing to note is that the stock had
gained a whopping 130% yesterday and will be an interesting issue to keep
an eye on.


f. PAPO- Pangea Petroleum Corp through its wholly owned subsidiary
Worldlink USA Inc. is an emerging leader in the area of Internet
Broadcasting services. We at the WSP feel that Pangea is in an industry
that is on the cutting edge of a technology growing at a rapid rate and
has some nice upside potential.Keep an eye on this company as it continues
to grow at a nice pace.

g. GLX- Glaxo Wellcome said its 6 month pretax profits rose 7% to $2.1
billion, but warned it will not see double digit earnings growth as
previously expected.

h. MU- Micron Technology is spoken very highly of over at Paine Webber
