KL - You May be Right for Oil But How About Gas PTEN released its earnings today. Their utilization is up to 41% for July from the first six month average in the low 30's. Yesterday's gas build was expected to be 70 Bcfe but was only 41 Bcfe. The heat wave continues. Also check out the comment made today by Grey Wolf's CEO that they will not cut their day rates to increase utilization or lay off any more workers. The train may be leaving the station for the natural gas land drillers.

Alaska oil output falls below 1 million barrels a day From the Houston Chronicle: Oil output from Alaska's North Slope slipped below 1 million barrels a day in June, a milestone in declining production for the state that once accounted for a quarter of the nation's oil. Output rebounded above a million barrels a day in July, and is expected to remain above that figure in the next five years as additional fields come on line. Still, the June drop below 1 million barrels was a dramatic reminder of the declining output. "It's the lowest it's been since it began its decline," said Ken Boyd, director of the division of oil and gas at Alaska's Department of Natural Resources. chron.com What was Simmonds saying about depletion???????????
