Neocon-
First let me state that I am not an economist, not even an economist-ophile:-)

As far as who and what have won a debate, I do know this much. Theory in general(economic or otherwise) is like the wheather. It will
change eventually, and everyone looks back and says "why the *%#@ did we ever think that was true?" It just takes longer in some disciplines than in others.

I have a problem with labels. Once they are applied, they are hard to get rid of. They are almost never justified in the totality of a situation. What is defined as socialism, or Libertinarism, or efficient, or Christian, or or even good or bad, changes ovder time and means different things to different people.

Every person, situation, and occurence is unique unto itself and should be treated as such. that doesn't mean that we can't learn from history or experience,, or even use it as a useful guidepost. It does mean tht things are rarely ever static and they change.

Not all dems are socialists, and that word has such a negative conotation and eans different things to many different people.

I look at it this way.....
In my personal experience, extremism(of any sort) has always lead to negative consequenses. Extreme socialism, extreme capitalism, extreme
anything. Extremism, IMO, leads to abuse far more often that moderation.
I also believe that the measure of a great society is not how high the few can fly, but how we treat the least of our citizens, while still allowing the most talented to soar. If we allow the few to achieve without helping those that can't, we do ourselves a disservice(again, IMO)

Without turning this into a long dissertation, I think Dem ideologies allow for this to a greater degree.
