Commodities & heat wave(IMHO):
1. Most electricity in the US is gened from natural gas, so heat wave should drive higher gas as more is used to spin the air conditioners.
2. bees (which are used to pollinate crops) become good workers at temp extremes, a) Ag dept. some years ago said for each 10 degrees above 90 pollination is reduced so as to drop truck crop(veggies) and fruit yields by 20-25%, but note, as fruit and truck crops are NOT commodities there will be no CRB increase. b) more expensive honey - also does not impact "inflation"
3. higher milk prices due to dairy herd stress & again this year possible lower butter fat % in milk as heat reduces milk quality.(note, most of the area effected by heat wave is not in the
"key" dairy states, but much of dairy production is a local price Vs a national price.) All I can find out says nation wide this year's hay crop is around average.
4. possible(only possible!) lower corn weight yields,
5. silver solder is used in mfg process(coil assy) of some refrig. coils - air conditioner demand.
