Where Rambus really wins is on the second 32 byte transfer from consecutive addresses, because the next DRAM read cycle happens concurrently with the transfer of the first 32 bytes.

That is true, and that is why DRDRAM provides high bandwidth. Unfortunately, CPU's usually only want 32 bytes at a time because that is the size of a typical cache line.
