richard and Jd,

This is slightly off of the conversation you're having, but when EN first "reported" that IBM might be backing out of its Rambus license (which IBM later refuted), the question also came up on the thread as to whether or not IBM is enough of a force in the memory business to worry about one way or the other. My personal feeling is that the Microelectronics group is not a large enough force to push the industry one way or another. I'd be much more worried if IBM PCs were not going to include RDRAM (again, IBM said that they would be, and which does NOT require a Rambus license) than if their microelectronics group was not going to manufacture RDRAMs.

JMO,

Dave
