looking at IBM gear <ggg>.


Not unless they have a building as big as a Moffett Field hangar, or Lockheed's Blue Cube. Those mainframes are huge! Actually, the latest CMOS ones look little different from a Sun or Compaq top of the line server.

Did you hear that the Ebay problems were definitely Sun hardware (or software) caused? They did string out over several days or weeks, sounding like several outages. Does illustrate that system or network problems at a high visibility on-line business site like Ebay, or Amazon, will get a ton more visibility than one at, for example, an auto manufacturer. And, I'll bet a lot of the fast growing on-line sites spent relatively little time and money on their systems and networks. What an opportunity for someone in the server farm business!
