Zeke,
I think that is great news. Trey seems to like to po-po Westell now-a-days as just a low margin CPE vendor, but they have created a great modem for the Alcatel DSL product which is finding itself in use around the world. Over 50% of USA, now parts of Europe (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/990719/alcatel_1.html) and just last week Alcatel announced a contract in China for DSL (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/990719/alcatel_2_1.html). In my estimate Westell will do well with their modem, but will do even better in their communications portal, CPI and VoDSL offerings as DSL becomes more a reality than just tomorrows' technology.
As for the central office, the story is really just beginning. When TI is ready with its great DSP ADSL implementation, who might get the business from BA/GTE? Doubt if it will be Alcatel.

JMHO,
Michael
