Orex Gold Mines Corp. recently gained national attention from an article in "Business Week" magazine which explained that the company's environmentally friendly process of extracting gold from ore could be the solution to the ban on cyanide in the prominent mining state of Montana. Cyanide is commonly used for extracting precious metals from ore but its highly toxic properties have prompted several states to restrict its use. "Business Week" also noted that independent tests show the process used by Orex extracts a greater percentage of gold from ore in less time than cyanide does. Orex is currently completing the acquisition of two mining companies in which it will acquire substantial gold, uranium, and vanadium reserves, including mining equipment and contract mining agreements. As part of the agreement, Orex will also acquire a current contract with Phelps Dodge (NYSE: PD), the largest copper producer in the United States.
