Telesp Celular reports R$ 91.8m net profit for 1H1999

São Paulo, 29 - Telesp Celular, controlled by Portugal Telecom, posted a R$ 91.8m
net profit (R$ 1.60 per thousand shares) in the first six months of the year, compared
with earnings of R$ 214.1m (R$ 3.74 per thousand shares) in the same period last
year.

The company said its net operating revenue rose 32.3% to R$ 1.016bn in the period,
while gross operating revenue increased 18.8% to R$ 1.355bn.

By June, Telesp Celular had 2.1 million clients, 140% more than a year earlier. (By
