Sun urges August deadline in server wars
news.com

"At stake in the battle of the titans is some of the most important equipment in a computer besides the main processor itself: the technology that lets devices such as network cards and hard disks talk to the CPU. The system is crucial to server makers's plans to build high-end computers out of less-expensive components, and whatever method wins in all likelihood will be used for at least a decade"

JC.

PS. It's nice to know that IxWorks is in both NGIO and Future I/O.
If they do agree to merge both standards then perhaps the deal will be WIND's equivalent of the QCOM/ERICY 3G deal.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this announcement about VxWorks as part of the new "intelligent" set-top boxes that Hughes will be producing GREAT news??? We have been speculating on the involvement of WIND in the set-top box realm. This looks particularly good given the alliance between Hughes and AOL...

Anybody care to comment?
