We are in a transitional period. Many people have the amniocentesis, though, and "quality of life" is often the rationale for abortion. It is not a big stretch, when there have been eugenic proposals to sterilize the retarded floated in the last few years, for example... ...There is a statistical correlation, I am merely trying to provide the connecting argument for how the rise in abuse could have come from the rise in abortion... ...The supposed counter- argument makes little sense, since the option of abortion was available and they didn't take it. If others are allowed to speculate on the connection between video games and Columbine, surely I can speculate about this<g>...with greater logic... ...No, pro- lifers have no option than to object, at least until they become persuaded to be pro- choice. The question is, which is better?: Allowing objections a more normal scope within the political arena, or having conservatives feel that they have no decent recourse because the Supreme Court has pre- empted the democratic process?... ... Most conservatives can no more accept the law as handed down than abolitionists could have accepted Dred Scott. If you want to maintain respect for our institutions, put the ball into play again, and if you think you have the votes, keep it legal state by state....
