Anyone else listen to the conference call? CEO David Deeds and new president Peter White claim 100,000 registered users of WaveTop, which they said will provide an established audience for their new baby, Jamcast.

Earnings were -19 cents, one cent better than First Call estimates.

The company will now concentrate on two products: Jamcast for the consumer audience and NewsPak for the business-to-business market.

I hoped to ask about Wavo's lack of interest in enhanced TV, which is being promoted by PBS, Intel, Wink, Liberate and others using the same VBI technology Wavo announced long ago, but has been ignored by Wavo. As well as why the company turned down $7.5 million in financing last February from the institutional investor who would have paid $7 for shares now worth less than $5.

But "Ken Turetzky, investor" never got in. Instead, we heard the usual mostly unfocused questions from sycophantic representatives of brokerage firms nobody ever heard of, and a few more confused, unhappy questions from representatives of other firms nobody ever heard of.

One caller asked about the $7.5M, but Deeds only answered that DLJ is handling Wavo's financial dealings.

Wavo is still hoping to market Jamcast to PC owners with TV tuner cards, using the VBI spectrum Wavo licenses from PBS. I wanted to ask why, when the leading tuner card maker, Hauppage, is currently a very hot company (check HAUP's stock price), HAUP never mentions Wavo in its press releases.

We can only hope Peter White has some positive effect on the company. He sounds young but unlike David Deeds, he is apparently capable of speaking in complete sentences.

Wavo has a lot to prove. I just don't know who takes them seriously anymore, thanks to the CEO's miserable performance.
