Details Of Some Recent Producer Sales (Kaplan Tonight)

<< Newmont Mining Co. sold 483,300 ounces of gold at $300 an ounce to pay off a portio of its revolver loan so it could extend its debt repayment schedule into the future. This gold is to be delivered in the years 2005, 2006, and 2007. Newmont will get 100% of proceeds from any price above $300 per ounce up to a maximum of $380 per ounce. Should gold rally above $380 per ounce, Newmont will still be contractually obligated to deliver this gold at $380 per ounce. Therefore, should the price of gold rally substantially over the next several years, Newmont will be limiting its potential profit margin. Battle Mountain Gold has also announced plans to hedge a portion of its production, thus leaving all major North American producers at least partially hedged. Harmony Gold Mines remains one of the few unhedged producers worldwide with annual output above one million ounces. >>

<<An angry former customer of a stock day- trading firm returned to the office Thursday afternoon and methodically opened fire with two guns, killing at least nine people and injuring at least 12 others, the company's chairman told CNN. >>
N.P.R. was reporting he was angry over the market moves today - suggested Internet stocks. I wonder why some call gold owners "crazy", I, of late, sold & took a loss on (amoung others) my first shares of ECO bought at $16(#16 it was 50% below top) and killed no one...... ECO closed today at 1 5/16.
