GZ: **OT** Today's incident saddens me as well. A little depressing actually. It is a little lonely trading from my home office, but at least I don't have to worry about what occurred today.

Then, again....I do get to communicate with all the intelligent, generally nice folks on this thread. This has added an extra dimension to doing this. When I day traded from home in the eighties, it was just me, the cat....and the broker on the phone.

Regards,
LG

Ground Zero

You gave me the willies with that story. I am generally a very calm and level headed person with almost no temper but I have found myself getting angry at my computer a couple of times when a trade goes really bad. I can just imagine what happens to someone who is already mentally unstable and emotional and then starts trading....scary combination. I guess today we got a look at that exact situation.

My prays go out to the families and friends of the victims. What is this world coming too?

Best Regards
KEITH

Ground Zero, while so many play optimist and play up the bull market as a wonderful and positive thing and great for all, the dark underbelly as we have discovered today, is that when the market is pushed up and up by participants and every dip is an opportunity and the media paints this as a can't miss get rich quick scheme, it invites unknowing joe six pack with a mortgage, credit card bills and a family to support to take foolish risks that would not be taken in an ordinary environment.

I believe that this guy today is just the tip of the iceberg of internet and stock mania, who has mortaged himself and lost everything.

A bull market is just fine, this is beyond a bull market, this is a 20% year on year gains blow-off that has lured many to take risks beyond normal to get the island domain or the helo-pad so irresponsibly offered by broker ads (even if they meant it tongue in cheek)

being bullish and optimistic has become too politically correct, so politically correct i want to choke.

crap take the sob up up up, ignore rates, ignore earnings, ignore a/d line, ignore wars, ignore the farmers who are crapping out, ignore that most of the world is in recession or depression, ignore everything, climb the sucker till there is no more worry and when msft crosses to new highs and becomes a 500 billion company and 8% of the whole goddamn countries GDP, tell everybody that soft will be the first trillion dollar company.
