That quote was from No. Va. I don't recall the No. Cal. zip codes anymore. Just multiply No. Va. by 2 to get No. Cal. rates. My car insurance went up 2.5 times when I lived in Sunnyvale.

I lived in Van Nuys for 4-5 years and the company I worked for was on the Kaiser-Permanente plan at no premium cost to me. I got hit by a bleeding ulcer and had to spend 4 days in the K-P hospital with all kinds of lab work, x-rays, etc. When I was released I was required to pay only $1.00 for a prescription. The care I received was as good as any I ever experienced.

Since California nixed the "pre existing clause, it is no wonder that your premiums are so out of line with most of the rest of the country. We all are forced to accept that insurance companies refuse to take any financial risks while making mega-bucks. TD
