JFD, i use QQQ(Nasdaq 100), DIA(Dow 30), SPY(S and P 500)---trading on the Amex. I also buy puts on QQQ.
In addition, i try to pick a few tech stocks (especially internets)---AMZN, RNWK etc.
Going to stay away from the puts (starting now) simply because i don't want to play options during this period. Lucky to get a chance to make money on these due to today's rally.
Not as certain of a market crash as i was. The big rally on the Nasdaq on Thursday surprised me as well as the high put/call ratio which was bearish---a contrarian indicator. I also was surprised by how Intel was moving---very strong.
For that reason, i am going to play it safe by shorting the market or individual stock but no options at all.
