My take on these terms.... Hello Mohan: 1)Hindostan (Wonder which kingdom or kingdoms he was referring to) North of Vindhya/Satpura range 2)Scinida (MP,Gwalior perhaps?) Yes, still there 3)Dekhun (Deccan region or kingdoms? Karnataka,parts of Andrha Pradesh,even some parts of Kerala?) South of Vindhya/Satpura range 4)Hindostani (Urdu perhaps?) Yes 5)Feranghee? ( I thought it was a Star Trek invention,guess not) Englishmen 6)Peshkar? (What exactly is a Peshkar,I remember my grandfather often mentioning 'peshkar' in his conversations when I was a kid,must be some sort of a governemnt employee,eh?) yes, kind of village official 7)Maharata (I am sure Ali was referring to Maharashtra) yes and to Maratha people also. 8)Marwar(wonder which region he is referring to here) Region north northwest of Indore.
