IMHO, We needn't get too concerned over the NC.
Oracle is in a much stronger position than it was a year or two ago. As a Internet infrastructure player, it's database sale is fueled by the net explosion. In the business software arena, Oracle's applications are giving SAP a hard time. With the announcement of Oracle Exchange and other Business Online initiatives, Oracle is getting into the red hot Internet business directly. Oracle is strongly positioned in all three fronts. The NC thingy may simply be a tiny part of the Oracle story.

I'd also give Larry the benefit of the doubt on the NC. IMHO, the proliferation of palm top devices points to the fact that people do not necessary want a full fledge Windowed PC. Personally, the only software I use at home is the browser.
