Leland,

The main competitors in etch(which are public) are TEL(Tokyo Electron), and AMAT. In CMP they also compete against AMAT, SFAM and a number of non-public companies, Ebara being the most salient among them. There are many more in each category but by and large, these are the main ones.

IMHO, it's not advisable to go near SFAM. I hold a very small position and will unload it should it rise in tandem with LRCX.

BTW, I am not an engineer so my knowledge in this field is very limited when compared to other erudite voices here on SI who actually work in the industry.

BK

BRKS supplies cluster tool robots to Lam and was owned by them at one time. I feel that BRKS should rise in simpathy with Lam today. In addition BRKS had a bad day yesterday so all the more room for a rebound.
