Pierre, I will stick my two cents in here...

I would still suggest buying gold stocks now, if you can...i think thursday showed golds CAN go up, despite all the bearish sentiment and talk of $ 220 or $ 200 an ounce, Britain selling, etc...so, really, you haven't missed the boat...my avg cost on abx is 20 $ us and i'm not really upset i kind of overpaid...

i would suggest buying a couple different ones...

abx is hedged, but a powerhouse...they can and do make $
asa and au would be a better play if the price of gold rockets
i don't know much about hm and nem, pdg seems to disappoint, but is a major player...

if you want to go for a big splash, try call options on asa, they are relatively cheap

(disclaimer) i have both shares and call options on abx, asa and shares of au...i don't own any hm, nem or pdg...i also have a fair bit of agnico eagle, a mid tier gold in canada
