Robert,

I used Silicon Investor before they were purchased by Go2Net. I used Go2Net before I became an investor of GNET. I found Go2Net because of a link someone had posted on a Yahoo message board. You could call it flypaper. I flew by, poked around a bit and got stuck.

Once the cable connection is made with Charter there will be tens of thousands of new to the internet people that have no idea what the internet is all about. Their first introduction will be to Go2Net. Some will go quickly, some will stay for awhile, some will stay forever. Others will fly by, find out that everything they need is right here, and what isn't they can access via MetaCrawler. It takes awhile for new computer users to become savvy to the ways of internet surfing. And as the slogan says "When you're done surfing" this is the place they can come back to. Most importantly, that first introduction breeds familiarity.

Therefore, I don't buy the idea yet we as investor's seem to buy into it

What do we mean by Portal. And why does it have value. For me it's not just the homepage that I start up with. A portal can be anywhere I go to get things done. If I want to look at my portfolio and get some basic news I go to YHOO, my portfolio at YHOO is my starting homepage. If I want in depth, up to the minute info I go to SI.

My interest determines where I go. The quality of the info at a site determines whether I stay. If you satisfy my needs I will hang around and look at your ads and maybe buy something.

So the question of where I start out and how that relates to value is not as important as where I spend most of my time. Where I spend most of my time is what is important.

PS I think I'll buy some more GNET if it dips below 60.
