Thanks for your "long essay" I was in the business back then as well and remember 10/16/87 well. I had written a bunch of naked puts on very low margin and covered at Fridays close. Complained to myself about the poor fill and then on Monday sure was thankful as I would have been bankrupt had I kept the positions.

Ever hear of a reversal pattern called a "bump and run"? A spooster friend of mine is faxing me some of his "drawings" on it today.

BTW this year may just be following the format of recent ones, i.e. ramp all the gains early in the year, then scare the crap out of everyone for the rest of it (only to finish up).

Then again, it appears from the charts the Internet is in slow kill. Many Net stocks are approaching major breakdown tests: CNET mid 30s, YHOO 120, AOL 90, AMZN 90. I figure if that quasi head and shoulders goes on YHOO, that's Waterloo.
