Mr. Michael Forster reports
Graham Whitmarsh has been appointed president and chief executive officer.
As Mercury's vice-president for two years, Mr. Whitmarsh has played a key
role in the significant growth and success the company has experienced in
the last year. Prior to joining Mercury, Mr. Whitmarsh was vice-president
of sales and marketing of British Aerospace Inc. in Washington, D.C. His
responsibilities included sales and marketing, technical analysis and
public relations for British Aerospace sales offices in the United States,
United Kingdom and Australia. Mr. Whitmarsh has also been a director of
M.I.B. S.r.L., one of Italy's leading aviation and aerospace consulting
companies where he specialized in both the military and civil aerospace
industries.
Current president and chief executive officer, Michael Forster, who will
remain on Mercury's board of directors as chairman, said that the timing is
appropriate for a change in leadership as his goals for the company have
been achieved.
"When I joined Mercury in late 1997, it was my objective to transform the
company into a leading provider of innovative airline operations software
systems. Following an aggressive sales and marketing strategy, Mercury has
been able to build an impressive client list of airlines from around the
world. Successful licensing agreements with DHL and British Airways
Regional, among others have placed Mercury in the forefront of the
industry," Mr. Forster said.
"I am very proud of the achievements the team at Mercury has made under my
leadership and my mandate as president and CEO has been fulfilled. Graham
Whitmarsh's experience and abilities will be an asset for the company as it
meets the new challenges that lay ahead."
Although Mr. Forster will no longer be involved in the day to day
operations of the company, his role as chairman will be focused on
corporate strategy with particular emphasis on acquisitions and
partnerships. The board wishes to thank Mr. Forster for his valuable
contributions to date and is looking forward to his further assistance in
moving the company forward strategically.
