Michael, I did not say this thread had never discussed politics. Here is what I said (emphasis mine): To be perfectly frank, Neocon, those "ideological provocations" belong on the kind of thread where they were originally posted -- on a "political" thread. Christine can correct me; but I think political arguments are too polarizing for a thread like this one. Besides, "some" of us (meaning me, primarily <g>) have had it with those subjects.... :-) Let me add something else. These days there are a zillion political threads on SI. People preoccupied with political matters can, and do, post to them. The same topics are gone over, and over, and over again. Personally, I get bored rehashing the same stuff endlessly. But as I said above, maybe it's just me... :-) Joan
