I believe that Nortel builds the wireless networks for AirTouch and Lucent builds the wireless networks for ATT. AirTouch uses CDMA and ATT uses TDMA. I just finished reading an article in this morning's Seattle P-I about AirTouch net access which uses CDMA. The service is currently available in Seattle, Detroit and Salt Lake City. You buy a Qualcomm 860 cell phone for $149 and a $25 cable to connect to a serial port in your portable computer. By dialing #777, you get a direct connection to the internet within 5 seconds. The phone has a builtin broswer. You can also get a dialup connection to your regular ISP at 14.4 kpbs. There is no additional charge for this service but the customer is charged for the air time. No other carrier offers this service. US West and Sprint say they plan to do so later this year.

Sorry I cannot furnish a link. There is none available.

What are the tax implications of a 1:1 stock dividend versus a 2:1 split ?

2:1 split causes no taxation for investors. Dividends, as we all know, are generally taxable.

Are we going to be taxed on our stock dividend ? I doubt it, as the total value of shares held is not increasing as a result of this dividend, but confirmation would be nice.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer the question.
