Japan's problem is the banking system. The banks make too many bad loans, once the real estate price drops , the banks can't get their money back but hold these deflated real estate. So, Japan's financial problem is the banking system + deflation. The samething can happen here, say, companies make loans to invest in new factories, and equipments, once recession step in and companies can not sell their products, then the bank will hold these factories and equipments. So, the solution is to grow the economy, not depress the economy by hiking the rate. Did you regiter for your economic class ? School can fill your brain with knowledge, but can't teach you to think !!!!!
