The first chinks in the "free PC" armor of the "little" guys? CNBC reports --

Microworkz (Webzter): Earthlink was the supplier of the internet access that came with the Webzter, but they just terminated their relationship this morning with Microworkz for non-performance because "only about 1,000 customers signed up for the internet service".

They also reported that Enchilada (one of the first "free PC with internet access") stopped accepting orders shortly after it started accepting them, though they didn't explain why. CNBC reported it as a negative, but it could be either a positive or a negative (either they were over-subscribed or they have internal problems, which is how CNBC positioned it).

They went on to say that with the big guys (Dell, Gateway, etc.) getting into the "free internet access with a PC purchase" game, these small vendors will face stronger and stronger competitive pressures.
