The discussion between you and michelle is not one I wish to get very involved in because I would,without a doubt in my mind,really tick somebody off but, the statement that implies that the elderly are the wealthiest group in America and,therefore,do not need the resources of the government, is a blatant misstatement. The majority of the elderly people in this nation are not only not wealthy but, many are very near or below the poverty level. I expect someone will make a comment about them getting government money from Social Security but that too is totally false. The funds dispensed by the SSS were built up by the forced contributions of the people themselves and the employers they worked for. Most will never receive anything close to the amount they paid in. Compound that fact with the governmental waste and red tape that reduces every dollar paid in to the government to about 30 cents before it is returned to the contributors. TD
