Kholt,Tguy, others:please read #7423 before asking those questions/ making those kinds of statements. Or, other equally informative articles and analysises!

By doing so, you will hopefully achieve a much greater understanding and have a lot of your (GENUINE) questions answered or better be able to apply logic to them, thus saving space here, assuming your intent is to discover facts or the true state of affairs, rather than attack or to try and incite attacks, or to try to get others' attention.

kholt: suggest you rethink your conclusion about 'postponing the inevitable for another day or two (being without water) by 'filling up the tub'- consider the logic of that statement when your life, at least, is at stake. The obvious response to that is easy for me or anyone else to make (acutally, there have been numerous, numerous posts and articles and analysises here and elsewhere addressing that), but it is more responsible for YOU to come up with a more reasoned- out conclusion, and better self-advice, yourself.

Karen,

May I suggest that one could also see in it some good news--that when the electricity goes out, one still has a day or so postpone the inevitable by filling up a couple of buckets, the pool, the bathtub...

If everyone starts stockpiling water once the electricity goes off, the supply certainly won't last 36 hours. That estimate was based on normal winter demand. (In summer we wouldn't make it 18 hours without a drastic reduction in usage.)

Given the importance of water to existence, and given the low cost of storing water, why on earth would anyone wait until it hits the fan to fill "up a couple of buckets, the pool, the bathtub..."? Icarian personality, perhaps?

Best,
O. H.
