Gottfried,Paul, the doubling in five years referred to sales, not stock price. If sales and earnings go up, the stock price will take care of itself.

Agree. If I recall correctly, Morgan stated in Fall of 1997 that he believed that the technology for the semi-equip sector would be strong until/through 2006 and that Japan is the lead for Asia.

I just received a Daily Economic Report, Thursday, 8/29,h showing that the Japanese industrial production was up 3% m/m in June and projected to be up 3.7% in July and August. Europe is also stronger. However, the report stated, "This is not good for bonds, which in turn is not good for an extended US stock market. To avoid higher interest rates, it's critical the US economy slow substantially."

Based on what Morgan has stated, the fact that 50% of AMAT's earnings is outside the US and the current negative impact of the gains in the rest world on the US economy, it will be interesting how AMAT price will perform in the future months. Wish we could predict the future.

The only thing we do know is that the SEMI'S have what appears to be a definite cycle.

Just my opinions.

Paul
