You are exactly right. IMHO, When people start taking responsibility for their lives, and for their actions, then maybe we can move forward. Part of the problem is the media. They are always in a hurry to make excuses for everything that happens. Some times I just want to scream at the TV, "No, they knew what they were doing, and they are responsible. Period....Amen" Well, I'll get down off my soap box now and run do some errands. Oh yes, Blue, can you believe that guy blaming Heston? Now I'll really get off. R

KLP, Great post. If people knew about weapons they would understand that a gun prevents a gun from being misused. They don't understand and people often fear what they don't understand. We have Clinton, the media, Hollywood liberal types and the uneducated talking about what they don't know about. And since they control the media the result is the same as GNET not listing SI's hottest board today. The truth is not told.

Personal responsibility, like everything else in todays society,is for the "other guy".

The VAST majority of people in this REPUBLIC are brainwashed by the media and follow like sheep. Very few have a feeling or value that is not spoon fed to them by the powers that be.

We go to "war" with a country that has done nothing to us, destroy $5,000 trucks with million dollar missiles, accidently kill hundreds of innocent civilians, without thought or care. Cause more harm to the people we were supposedly helping than the enemy and the media made the "sheep" accept and encourage what we did. Force feed them and they will in time believe what you want them too. Now the Albanians are committing atrocities on the Serbs, do we go back now and bomb Kosovo.

We are politically correct yet morally corrupt and bankrupt. It will only get worse, more shootings more killings more pain more hurt. No body cares anymore, we make weak attempts to show outrage but do nothing and what we do is usually what the media wants us to do. There is no concentration, next week we will all have something else to rail against and this will fade into the background until the next time we see it in the headlines.

This country is run on polls and news and it is a scary thing to see. They use the news to guide and direct our thinking and the polls to verify that it is working. When the polls say to do this or that, it is exactly what we do.

We have become, in general; an immoral, dishonest and manipulated people who make noise and do nothing else. We show our outrage and then get on with our own personal agenda, feeling superior for having shown the correct amount of indignation.

A first good personal step is to shut the TV and leave it off. In work I have seen people watch the television for hours in rapt attention to these tragedies and then complain that is all they see. It gets re-hashed and regurgitated over and over and over again until it is all that matters. The media does their job well and we fall lock-step into thinking exactly about what they want us to. Pick a side any side and we can discuss and argue about it for weeks. The outcome is irrelevant as long as it is all we think about. We are fools and destroying ourselves from within, happily being led down the path to destruction and blind to that fact.

This of course is just one mans humble opinion and only that. Oooops excuse me CNN is coming back on, gotta run....
