vpelt... If Medicare gets into the prescription business watch for some great buying opportunities as you mention. The truth of the matter since government has been involved in healthcare has been that coverage and accessibility has been increased in situations such as these. There may be a retail price lowering, but the demand for drugs now that a govt sponsored program is available will be tremendous. The 15-20% price cut probable under this program will be easily recovered with what I predict to be a 30-40% increase in consumption.

This has been the case with Medicaid, all HMO pharmacy prescription plans, the introduction of health insurance since the 1960's and will not change in the foreseeable future. The analysts and pundits just don't study history or... they know history, announce warnings so their companies and clients can buy at distressed prices , and watch prices double or triple once again. Let's hope and pray the Medicare pharmacy benefit gets some life so we can have a great buying opportunity similar to 1990 and 1991. Stephen
