Market Caps: AT&T $172b WCOM $163b Global Crossing $26b Qwest $23b My point: Telecom is big business and new, huge players are being created. Global Crossing and Qwest were worth very little a few years ago and their now $50 billion combined market valuation has been created with very little negative impact to AT&T and Worldcom. Similarly, Juniper doesn't have to really beat up on Cisco or Lucent. Telecom is so big that a new large player can easily emerge. It makes sense to me.
